How Do I Get My Building Mapped?
Every Second Matters
Being able to pinpoint a 911 caller or an incident within a building can significantly reduce response time during emergencies, improving outcomes and saving lives. But buildings can be blind spots for first responders. By mapping every floor of a building, first responders know exactly where to go.
Reduce response times
Make it easier to find residents in an emergency
Alert building staff
Identify locations of life-saving equipment
Ensure gates are open & elevators ready
To achieve this, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Pure Wireless, LLC have partnered on a program creating detailed interior floor plans. The floor plans outline ways emergency crews can navigate the building and find AEDs, alarm control panels, fire extinguishers and shut-off valves. Once created, these plans are integrated into the 911 dispatch systems, enabling Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement to access crucial response information.
Less than 1% of buildings have indoor maps and 80% of 911 calls originate from cell phones indoors.
How It Works
We walk the building, review blueprints, and confirm locations of AEDs, fire extinguishers, elevators, exits
High-tech professional GPS Survey equipment maps every inch of the Building
All the data is combined & the contact info for the building & gate are added
Files are converted and uploaded into the Collier County 911 system
You receive a certificate from 911 acknowledging you are in the system
Anytime updates are made to the building, we will update the information
Each year, we walk the building to confirm the information is still correct

High-Rise Building Mapping
Building mapping is important in helping save lives in high-rise buildings and large, multi-unit residential communities when there is an emergency. When you call 911, emergency crews may have a general idea of where they will find you, wasting precious time while they work to find where you are once they arrive. Mapping out your building allows first responders to not only pinpoint your location but also helps them ensure any gates are unlocked, elevators are called, and security personnel on site are aware and prepared for their arrival. The sooner emergency crews can get to you, the better chance you have for a positive outcome.
During a medical emergency, survival rate drops 1% for every additional minute it takes first responders to find you. The sooner emergency crews can get to you, the better.
“The ability to locate a 911 caller or an incident within a building can save precious minutes in an emergency, potentially improving outcomes and saving lives.”
